Yearly Review

I think the only time I update this blog is every new year.  Each year I make the ambitious resolution to document our daily life more often so I can look back on gems such as Tyler's list of signs and Tyler's list of animal sounds.  He's now three and while I still want to remember each milestone, they don't seem as significant anymore.  But they are still fun memories.

For example, right now I have both Tyler and Ryan on either side of me dancing.  Now they are shuffling back and forth.  This is the strangest dance I have ever seen.  A year from now (when I make it back to the blog in 2017), I'll remember this and laugh.  That's what I wanted to accomplish by documenting our life.

I think I will still try.  I want to remember the moments that made us laugh, the recipes we discovered and loved, the small achievements we accomplish each year, and see our little boy grow both physically and mentally.  So that's staying on my list of resolutions for this year, blog more.

Last year, I made the following resolutions:

-  Delegate more.  I need to trust in my leads, I know they will do a good job so I need to share more responsibilities with them.
-  Focus on the big picture.  Let my leads handle the small, day to day stuff.
-  Work hard, play hard.  Work is important but so is spending time with my family.
-  Stop with the guilt.

I think I met my goals.  I only gave myself work-related resolutions and I ended up transitioning to a new management position and leaving my beloved call center.  It's been a good change with a different set of challenges and I'm eager to continue to grow into the new position and be comfortable with my new group.  I feel like I left my family but I'm positive I will forge new bonds with my new coworkers.

This year my resolutions are home-based.

-  Not leaving for tomorrow what I can (and should) do today--mostly dishes.
-  Adding exercise into my daily routine.
-  Start working on a novel and continue working on it.  I have started so many different stories but not have been written to completion.  It's time to finally finish something.

Not exactly resolutions but I still want to read over 50+ books this year.  I made that goal for 2015 and it was fun.  I read so many wonderful books, and so many awful ones, but it's been nice carving out time for books again.  I forgot how much I love reading and it's such an awesome feeling to find a book that has me so hooked that all I want to do is read.  Currently that book is Invasion of the Tearling, which I am co-reading with Ryan.  I look forward to long car rides just so we can get some reading in.

Ryan's resolutions this year are:

-  Run a mile everyday.
-  Keeping our house organized and tidy.

Tyler's resolutions (that his school recorded for him):

-  See the North Pole.
-  Play in the snow with his family.
-  Open presents with his family.
-  Stay with his family.

Oh man, I love that kid.  This is the same kid who wanted to buy dishes for Daddy for Christmas.  Mommy was getting something pretty.  :)

I think we all have some pretty lofty goals but most can be accomplished this year (probably not the North Pole...).  Here is to a a great 2015 and what will be an even better 2016!!
