2nd day in a row that we're blogging. Go us!
Ryan and I are rocking our resolutions so far! Ryan's "new thing" today is making Sriracha. He's in the kitchen right now chopping up delicious smelling peppers. I can't wait to try his homemade spicy goodness! And I'm at the kitchen table blogging. We also took our daily family photo:
Sorry about the awful quality of the pictures. Tyler had a bit of a meltdown tonight (we're thinking teething, more on that later) and it took us a while to calm him down, change his diaper, put on clothes, etc. much less interested enough to take a picture. So front-facing camera phone it was. But we did it!
Maybe other mamas can understand this, but today I looked at Tyler and thought, Where did my baby go? The moment occurred at dinner, both hands grasping baby spoons, shirt drenched in barley beef and vegetable soup, and the occasional "Nom!" after a bite. His appetite has been enormous as of late (extra servings at every meal at daycare, and that never happens) and he ate an adult-sized portion of soup, three helpings of mandarin oranges in jello, orange juice and milk. And he just seems so much taller! We just took him in for his 18 month checkup and he weighed in at 26 pounds, that's the 76th percentile! And now his belly is nearly gone, his legs seem to go on forever, and he just looks like a Big Boy. Where did my baby go? Which is silly because he's still attached to his pacifier, still using baby spoons, and still desperately needs a bib. Ryan thinks I'm crazy. But seriously...Where did my baby go??
I love watching him learn new things, growing up, mastering new tricks (his latest is winking, I'm not gonna lie, it's pretty cute) but sometimes I want him to slow down a bit and just cuddle with me. That's never going to change, right? Little boys will always want to cuddle their mamas?
An update on Ryan's homemade Sriracha:
Grandma Barb has fled the living room. The sauce is making her eyes burn. My lips are tingling and my skin feels like it's coated in spice. Ryan is having a grand old time!
